Associate Scientist, Assay Development

Nanomix is the leader in the development of mobile, affordable point-of-care diagnostics, offering a handheld testing platform and assays that provide rapid, accurate, quantitative information for use in settings where time-to-diagnosis is critical for clinical decision-making and improved patient care. Our goal is to expand access to quality healthcare by bringing diagnostics to the point of initial patient interaction, whether in the hospital or in pre-hospital, remote, or alternative settings.

Nanomix has developed tests for the diagnosis of sepsis, acute kidney injury, and COVID-19, and is looking for an Assay Development Associate Scientist to help accelerate these programs and the development of other IVD assay products in the pipeline. About You

  • Have basic wet-lab skills.
  • 0-2 years experience in developing IVD diagnostic assays.
  • Located in the San Francisco Bay Area or are willing to relocate.

About the Role

  • The successful candidate will apply scientific & technical skills in all phases of developing diagnostic assay products.
  • Assist in developing Nanomix eLab biosensor cartridge assays to detect various biomarkers &/or viral/bacterial antigens.
    • Help identify and optimize reagents using various biological wet lab techniques e.g., ELISA, enzymatic assays, protein modification/conjugations
    • Support development of calibrators/calibration methods
  • Perform testing to establish assay performance characteristics and to support regulatory submissions.
  • Participate in process development, QC development, and manufacturing transfer to support IVD products.
  • Perform data analysis using statistical software tools such as R &/or JMP to help inform product development and process improvements.
  • Write detailed SOPs, protocols, and reports to support the development of regulated products.
  • Support product launch activities and perform on-market product and manufacturing troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years experience in developing IVD diagnostic assays.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in in Biology, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • Some experience with immunoassay techniques &/or protein chemistry.
  • Some experience with biosensor & microfluidics-based multiplex IVD assay development.
